Dialogue & Dissemination Meeting in Sakarya

A dialogue meeting of SMART COMET Project was held in Sakarya, Turkey on the 27th of December 2019 bringing together different partners of MESS and MESS Training Foundation. Organized by MESS Training Foundation; MESS member companies and schools included in both SMART COMET and METAD projects were all invited to this meeting; including representatives from different enterprises in the region, Turkish Employment Agency regional branch, Ministry of National Education regional branch and different VET schools.

The meeting started with Sakarya Provincial Directorate of National Education Unit Head’s welcoming speech explaining the arrangements implemented in 2018 for the VET system in Sakarya region and also in Turkey. Their 2019 plans for VET arrangements were also discussed.

Study – visit participants of SMART COMET project were present at the meeting; Denizyıldızları VET school from Kocaeli, Nilüfer Atatürk VET school from Bursa, İMKB and Fatih VET schools from Sakarya and TürkTraktör enterprise from Ankara were these participants.

Foreign Affairs, Training and Projects Specialist of MESS, Can Yılmaz presented SMART COMET project, starting from the project design with its main aims and target groups, project activities and outputs completed so far. He gave detailed information on the School-Enterprise Cooperation work supported with the project and the competence management model combined with vocational education in terms of “Life Long Learning”. Participant teachers of VET had the chance to give their ideas on this model together with private sector representatives.

MESS Training Foundation Team Leader Müge Yaman talked about School-Enterprise Cooperation Model that they are implementing with 18 enterprises of metal sector and 21 VET schools from 9 different cities in line with 23 protocols singed between these three parties; the Foundation, school and enterprise.

Ayfer Aydoğdu, TürkTraktör Quality Systems and Technical Training Management Expert then gave a brief presentation on their vocational education projects; their Agriculture Laboratories in 4 different VET schools, in 4 different cities and “My Future is Safe” project in which they employ students right after they are graduated from VET high schools.
